A blend of old and new
The traditional cottage has been carefully restored to reflect the character of 19th century Ireland. The dwelling appears today as it did after the Famine. Even the courtyard and surrounding fields remain largely untouched.
The visitor centre is not just an exhibition space. The project is very much part of the wider community. The Centre's facilities are open to outside groups for social functions, committee meetings, public lectures and special events.
Rugadh mé i bparóiste an Chairn, Boirinn, Contae an Chlair- Cusack proclaiming his Clare origin to all and sundry in his Dublin years.
